West Bridgford, Nottingham
Retailers of Fair Trade Gifts, Homewares & Ethical Sustainable Furniture
Welcome, Log in
Iguazu (Beeston, Nottingham and West Bridgford, Nottingham) and Fairlytrading.com were established in 2003 by Neil and Karen Walton, and has been a thriving family run business ever since.
Having spent years travelling the world and living in many different cultures, Neil and Karen became aware of both the myriad of fantastic handicrafts being made around the world, and the inequalities of the global system that keep the manufacturers of these products in poverty.
So we decided to do something about it!
On returning from living and working as teachers in Asuncion, Paraguay, Neil and Karen opened a small shop in Beeston near Nottingham University selling fairly traded gifts from around the world. As interest in our business increased, we rapidly took over two more shops as they became available and started selling many more interesting lines from silver jewellery to furniture.
The name 'Iguazu' is derived from our time in Paraguay, with the mighty Iguazu (or Iguacu, or even Iguassu!) waterfalls on its border. This stunning natural formation was our escape from the big city and we simply adored our time there. Being on a triple border it also highlighted how differing peoples, cultures and values can work harmoniously side by side, which is something we hope we show in our own shops - with products from all over the world tied together by the ethical supply chain in which we work!
In late 2008, Iguazu 2 was born in the West Bridgford area of Nottingham near Trent Bridge Cricket Club. Even through the recession, it has been heartening to see the response to fair trade and our customer base has grown ever since.
Iguazu and Fairlytrading.com now employ a fantastic team of 8 people who are equally passionate about selling ethically sourced, handmade products from as many countries as we can find!
We hope you enjoy our website, and urge you to come and meet us in one of our shops if you possibly can. With your support we hope to only ever increase the amount of fair trade products we sell, helping to change the lives of everyone in the supply chain.
If you know of any fairly traded businesses, co-operatives or product ranges that you feel we should be supporting please contact Neil on firstname.lastname@example.org
